Whole Green Peppercorns for Soups Sauces or Dressings
Not your average peppercorns. Green peppercorns are the immature and unripe fruit of the Piper nigrum plant, the same plant that produces black peppercorns, white peppercorns, and red peppercorns. They are harvested while still green and either dried or preserved in brine, vinegar, or freeze-dried.
Our green pepper comes directly from the Indian ocean island of Sri Lanka where some of the finest pepper in the world is grown.
- Botanical name: unripe Piper nigrum
- Country of origin: There beautiful green peppercorns were proudly grown in the fertile soils of Sri Lanka
- Taste: fresh, bright and herbal notes followed by mild pungency and spiciness when compared to black peppercorns
- Uses: soups, sauces, dressings, brines and other culinary uses of seasonings such as Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, pickling and preserving, and often used in craft cocktails or other beverages
- Violative oil content: 3-5%
- Common names: green pepper, green pepper spice, green pepper corn, dried green peppercorn, fresh peppercorns, unripe peppercorns, and green pepper berries
- Storage: Always store in an airtight container in a cool and dry place away from direct sun light. You can also check out this article on how to properly store spices
