I'm a convert

I've been making my own vanilla extract for over a decade and used to buy my beans based on reviews at a Infamous Global seller. Was never sure what I would get. Then I found this company! The beans were beautiful! Fragrant, moist but not too moist, easy to cut open to expose the seeds and each Bean was six to seven inches long. I'm a happy extract maker! 💝💃🥳

When it comes to vanilla there is perhaps one name that is the most famous of all, bourbon vanilla.  While this term for vanilla beans once referred solely to vanilla grown on the island of La Rèunion, now it is a name associated with vanilla from Madagascar, Comoros, La Rèunion and many other areas that grow vanilla planifolia.

Black Vanilla from Comoros (Vanille noire des Comoros) Gourmet Grade A Vanilla Beans

Black vanilla from Comoros islands are a premium quality vanilla bean that is rich and aromatic and perfect for extracts, baking and pastries. You will not find any better vanilla beans than these beans. This vanilla comes directly from the islands of Comoros which is famous for its lush and fertile volcanic soil. While many consumers may often think bourbon vanilla comes from Madagascar, Comoros has long been regarded as a superior quality bourbon vanilla that is available in limited quantities annually

Grown on a small single estate, this family farm has been growing vanilla for three generations. Slofoodgroup is proud  to partner with this family and share Comoran vanilla beans with the world and to our customers. Similar to vanilla from Madagascar, bourbon vanilla is from the species of vanilla planifolia.  These vanilla beans have a wide variety of uses from chocolate, ice cream, brewing, perfumery and many food and beverage uses. Our favorites are rich vanilla bean gelato, flan, caramel sauces and banana pudding.

Comoros vanilla beans are derived from Vanilla planifolia, an oblong-leafed orchid renowned for producing pods with exceptionally high vanillin content. Grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of the Comorian islands, these beans develop a complex and intensely aromatic profile. During curing, the pods transform from dull yellow green to a rich, lustrous black-brown color as they transform from raw material to useable vanilla beans. The process takes a minium of 90 to 120 days to fully develop.

Due to their rarity, limited production, and consistently high quality, Comoros vanilla beans traditionally command a higher price than most other Vanilla planifolia varieties. Many European buyers and chefs regard Comoros vanilla as superior to that of Madagascar, citing its depth of flavor and terroir. The volcanic soils of Comoros are widely considered among the finest vanilla-growing environments in the world.
