Ground Pasilla Chile powder
Passila powder, an almost sweet, smokey and fruity flavor profile permeates from these chilies. Its complex flavor and aroma lend a world of depth to food, sauces and spice rubs. Pasilla negro is considered part of the "holy trinity of chile peppers," This chile pepper can often stand on its own in a broad range of recipes but is often most famously known for its use in Mexican moles.
Well this complex chile pepper is the dried form of the chilaca pepper, a long slender pepper that is grown in Mexico that when fully mature are dark brown in color. In its dried form, pasilla, is described as having tasting notes like sweet raisins, prunes, berries, and even cocoa. Try using this powder in adobe seasoning along with some of our Mexican oregano , salt, pepper and a few other herbs and spices.
