Ground Vietnamese Saigon Cinnamon Powder

Premium Saigon cinnamon powder is not for the faint of heart when it comes to spice level. Cinnamon powder from Vietnam, also known as Saigon cinnamon, is a warm, spicy, kick you in the back of the throat type of cinnamon that is known to pack the heat. Higher in violate oils than all other cinnamons this variety of cinnamon is a spicy cinnamon lover's dream come true.

Is Saigon cinnamon Cassia cinnamon?

Saigon cinnamon packs a stronger punch than Ceylon cinnamon. The intensity in flavor makes it a great option for heavy dishes like stews and curries. Ceylon cinnamon is much more delicate in flavor and is well-suited for simple baked goods and other dishes with few ingredients. Saigon cinnamon does contain higher amounts of coumarin, so if you are looking to reduce your intake, opt for Ceylon, which has the lowest coumarin content of all cinnamon varieties.

Yes. Saigon cinnamon is a type of Cassia cinnamon, but it is different than the Cassia cinnamon found in most grocery stores. The most common cinnamon is Chinese cinnamon. The oil concentration in Saigon is much higher, though, due to the optimal growing climate in Vietnam. The higher level of volatile oils brings forth a much more potent flavor and aroma than the Chinese variety. It's these oils that make Saigon cinnamon the more favorable variety for chefs across the world.

oh my gosh!

the vanilla was so fragrant i could actually smell it through the sealed bag! i have not tried the saffron yet but i know the persian is by far the very best! as for the saffron rice i bought ...I would like to know how to prepare this..so if you could write back to me i'd appreciate it. thank you for having these wonderful spices and herbs at an affordable price..i'll be back for more!

My new go-to cinnamon!

This cinnamon is wonderful - so much more flavor than I have experienced before with cinnamon. I have used it on oatmeal and also on fresh cut peaches (with ice cream!) and is not overpowering but the flavor really comes thru. I can't wait to try it with cinnamon rolls... I would definitely recommend it!

Comparison of cinnamon

Very good because I wanted to try Saigon versus Ceylon Cinnamon. Could definitely taste a difference and surprised that my favorite was the Saigon cinnamon. Richer flavor and aroma both plain and on apples. Will try on oatmeal and on buns and see if opinion changes.
