Nutmeg and Mace, which is it?

Applications for use and facts about Nutmeg:
A perfect complementary spice to many dishes. Many folks recognize it for its presence in holiday baked goods, but it is also frequently found in sweet potatoes and squashes, barbecue rubs, and sauces. In classical cooking, nutmeg is often found in cream spinach and is a key ingredient in the mother sauce béchamel. Try freshly grated, ground or just about any way you like it.
Commercial uses - essential oil is obtain through steam distillation and is commonly used in items such as toothpaste, food flavorings, syrups, perfumery and other applications.
Grade - ABCD with whole without shell of various size, light brown in color, 10-15 percent moisture content sun dried, with two to three percent maximum broken rate, and full-bodied aroma

Storage - always store in cool dry place such as a cupboard or pantry away from direct sunlight and moisture
Side effects - Consumed in large amounts this spice is said to have psychoactive effects since nutmeg does contain myristicin. Myristicin is a known naturally occurring compound found in many herbs and spices, but nutmeg is the most famous. No need to worry though as consuming small quantities like those used for cooking are perfectly safe and harmless.
Try this spice whole to see why pre ground nutmeg is just plain dull and boring. Freshly ground is always so much better. Grinding your own is easy to do and requires very little effort. There really is no need to shop for ground nutmeg when whole is really so much better
