Dried Morel Mushrooms, A Culinary Treat

Morel mushrooms, also known as Morchella mushrooms, sponge mushrooms, or pinecone mushrooms, are a rare culinary jewel. The Morel mushroom is one of the most sought-after and prized gourmet mushrooms in the world.

Though not absolutely impossible, it is quite rare for Morchella to be grown commercially, which means they are typically only harvested in the springtime when they pop up along forest floors, river banks, and occasionally disturbed flower beds. They are especially abundant in forested areas that have been recently burned by forest fires.

Though they are only found during spring and early summer months, they can be dried to preserve flavor and enjoyed year-round. While many mushrooms do not hold their natural consistency, when rehydrated, dried morel mushrooms that have been stored properly stay relatively true to form.

You can buy wild mushrooms online to enjoy throughout the year in broths, and braises. They are also decadent when sautéed, fried, stuffed, or baked.

Try this Vanilla Scented Morel Mushroom Mole, for a unique recipe that will impress a crowd.

What makes our dried morel mushrooms so spectacular?

These whole, dried morel mushrooms are easily reconstituted and spring back to their original form in just 15-30 minutes. Dehydrated morels make it possible for you to enjoy this culinary delight year-round.

It takes roughly 7 pounds of fresh morels to make 1 pound of dried mushrooms so use appropriately.

  • These dried morel mushrooms are available in bulk. Contact us to purchase larger quantities than listed.
  • The stems on these mushrooms are about 2 cm and are not only edible, lacking that woody texture many mushrooms produce, they are absolutely divine in taste and texture.
  • Organic, wild-harvested morchellas that are dried to preserve for year-round enjoyment.
  • Buy these wild mushrooms online and you can be sure you are getting an all natural, gluten-free, certified kosher, non-GMO product.

Morel Mushrooms are excellent in a Madeira sauce, cream sauces, or braised dishes; they are decadent when roasted with asparagus, can be used for enhancing risottos or sautés with garlic and butter. This edible fungus is sure to be a treat when added in any of your favorite recipes or for inspiring other dishes in which it is the featured ingredient!

Excellent Product & Customer Service with Great Price to boot!

I ordered the dried Morel mushrooms for the first time from Slofoodgroup the day before Christmas Eve and chose the 1-business day delivery option, hoping that the order would be delivered on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, not long after I completed the order that UPS notified me that the order would be delivered the day after Christmas. I immediately contacted customer service at Slofoodgroup and soon received a reply from Michelle with an offer to refund the shipping cost or free return on the order. I chose the refund and received it that same day and the order the day after Christmas, as per UPS. Let me tell you, was I happy to keep the order. The Morel mushrooms are gigantic, about 3-4 times the size of those that the local grocery store chain in Pittsburgh carries and 1/4 of their price. Yes, you read that right. The Morel mushrooms from Slofoodgroup are 4 times larger than those available in my local grocery store but cost 4 times less. What a GREAT deal! I would definitely buy these Morel mushrooms, or anything else for that matter, from Slofoodgroup again.
