Gourmet Vanilla Planifolia Pods are sweet, oily, and incredibly pungent. Indonesian Vanilla Beans are known for their unique smokiness and woody flavor. Indonesia is highly regarded for the high quality of vanilla produced there and is the second largest vanilla bean producer in the world, next to Madagascar. The unique flavor and aroma profile of this particular style of vanilla planifolia pods is derived from the curing process utilized in Indonesia. The amount of sun the vanilla receives in drying results in a bean that is slightly less pliable than the Madagascar counterpart but holds up remarkably well in heated applications, extract, ice creams, and other sweet treats. The smoky flavor pairs beautifully with chocolate and barbecue sauces (try this one) and it is perfect for richer desserts or recipes that call for caramel or star anise, giving the exotic flavor of these vanilla beans a chance to really shine!

YUMMMM. A little goes a long way. I cut a very tiny bit and put it into smoothies and it's delicious! Make sure you put it in the refrigerator or it will go bad fast (which is good.. means the product is pure and not loaded with preservatives). when I put it in the refrigerator it lasts me up to 3 months. Hi Ann, thank you for your wonderful review. We just wanted to clarify that vanilla beans should never be stored in a refrigerator as this can promote mold grow and dry the beans out due to increased moisture presence. Vanilla should always be immediately used or resealed using a vacuum sealer or triple bagged removing as much air as possible and air out every so often. Thank you again and please enjoy.
Arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The beans were as described, not dry or brittle, but supple and somewhat oily (which from researching is how they are supposed to be). I have yet to use in recipes, and to use the pods in making my own vanilla extract. [Amazon Review]
