    Wow, these vanilla beans and muffins look amazing. We purchased some of the Tahitian Vanilla bean from Tahiti and some of the Ugandan Vanilla beans and are some happy. The Tahitian vanilla beans we plan on making vanilla ice cream and the Ugandan vanilla beans we are going to make vanilla extract for holiday gifts. Do you have a recipe for this?

    Hi Bethany,

    Here is a great recipe for making your own vanilla extract.

    Make Your Own Vanilla Extract
    •Select an alcohol such as vodka, rum, bourbon, or brandy that is 70 proof.
    •For every liter of Alcohol, you will need 3.34 ounces of Vanilla beans split, scrapped and cut. (for a better presentation, you can also split the beans, scrap them and put them in the container whole).
    •Place ingredients in airtight container.
    •Shake vigorously and continue to do so once or twice a week for 90 days. (The vanilla is ready to use after 90 days, but we advise an extra 30-90 days to allow it to fully mature)

    We like to use a variety of beans to make our vanilla extract and feel like it really gives layers of flavor and depth to the final product.

    I prefer the Tahitian vanilla from Tahiti or the Ugandan vanilla beans are a good product too.
